Q & A

What is ReRoute Music Group?

ReRoute Music Group makes music that moves and motivates people. Our flagship artist, SaulPaul, makes music with a message. We are a local company with global influence.

What was your business situation before joining the program?

I joined because I saw it as an opportunity to learn the fundamental business skills that I skipped over as a person who bootstrapped my business. Coming from a creative background, I learned business through practice and there were business skills that I wanted to sharpen. This program was different from other programs because it was for people who already had a business and needed the skills to grow it to the next level. By joining, I also saw it as an opportunity to work on my business and not just in my business.

What did you learn?

The whole program was very valuable. I think the people who get the most out of it are people who take it seriously and are committed to the process. I attended every session and did all the homework. The homework is essentially you working on your business.

You are in a classroom with other entrepreneurs – just by being in the same room, you are gaining access to real life case studies and exposure to new challenges.
Classes provided me with the framework and the vocabulary to grow a company.

What was your main takeaway?

Take every class seriously. Every area of your business will grow because you are investing time into your business. If you have a teammate, bring them with you. Get others in your company involved if you want to make change within your company to help it grow.

What changes did you make to your business?

The most significant change was understanding my customers and learning how to service them better. We have several types of customers, but I did not realize that they fit a similar profile and had certain expectations. Once I understood those expectations, I was able to address them more intentionally. We were in the process of scaling our company and I was able to identify which markets we wanted to expand to and lay out a path for that expansion. Our business model changed from B2C to B2B.

What was the impact on your business?

As an entrepreneur, I know that life, like business, is all about change. I believe the most successful businesses are able to address the changes in the market. The key to being able to pivot knowing your customers, services and products intimately. When businesses pivot and address the changes that are occurring in their ecosystem, they flourish… I had the time to identify customers and learn why they enjoyed our service. Knowing this helped us refocus, refine, and replicate our business.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I really enjoyed the program. The information I learned from the course plus the relationships I developed in the class were invaluable. I developed several relationships with others and had a great cohort. People who do not take advantage of the program are missing out.
